The 5K run starts with the 10K run at St. Lawrence College. Runners head up to Montreal Road (traffic will be blocked off), and continue to McConnell Avenue. The route will swing around Cotton Mill Street and join the bike path at Edward Street. The run continues along the bike path until the turnaround located just beyond the band shell at Lamoureux Park. The route back follows the bike path all the way back to the finish line at St. Lawrence College.
The 5K turnaround will be clearly marked and a volunteer will be stationed there to let you know to turn. Note that the 10K runners will continue to run past the 5K turn. The route is not an identical out-and-back so the turn around point is a little further than 2.5K.
This race is a favourite for local speedsters; you can expect the winning time to be in the 17 minute range. The festive and inclusive atmosphere also makes it a great course for first timers attempting their first race. A lot of runners have made our event their first run.
